永住権の申請は、書類を集めて提出するだけではなく、いくつかのステップを踏む必要があります。大まかな流れを把握しておくと準備がスムーズになります。
Applying for permanent residency in Japan is not just about gathering documents and submitting them—it requires several important steps. Understanding the overall process will help make your preparation smoother.
① 事前確認 / Preliminary Check
まず、自分が申請条件を満たしているかを確認します。在留歴、収入や納税状況、家族の同居実態などをチェックし、弱点があれば補足資料で説明できるように準備します。
First, confirm whether you meet the application requirements. Check your residence history, income, tax payment record, and family cohabitation status. If there are weaknesses, prepare supporting documents to explain them.
② 書類収集 / Collecting Documents
市区町村で住民票や税証明、勤務先から在職証明や源泉徴収票を揃えます。社会保険料の納付状況も重要です。自営業者は確定申告書や決算書も必要となります。
Obtain residence records and tax certificates from your city office, and employment certificates or tax withholding slips from your workplace. Proof of social insurance payments is also important. Self-employed individuals will need tax return forms and financial statements.
③ 理由書の作成 / Preparing a Statement of Reasons
永住を希望する理由や日本での生活状況、将来の計画を具体的にまとめると審査でプラスになります。
Summarize clearly why you wish to obtain permanent residency, your living situation in Japan, and your future plans. This can positively influence the examination.
④ 入管への申請 / Application to Immigration Bureau
書類一式を地方出入国在留管理局に提出します。受理されると半年から1年以上の審査が行われます。
Submit the full set of documents to the Regional Immigration Bureau. Once accepted, the review may take from six months to over a year.
⑤ 許可・不許可の通知 / Result: Approval or Denial
許可の場合は新しい在留カードが発行され、以後は更新不要となります。不許可の場合でも、理由を踏まえて再申請が可能です。
If approved, a new residence card will be issued, and no further renewals will be necessary. If denied, you can reapply by addressing the stated reasons.
